PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
To prepare our students with the skills necessary to become competent and confident estheticians. To develop students who can easily transition from spa to medical office having learned the skills required in both settings.
BASIC PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program emphasizes the anatomy and biology of the skin as a basis for esthetic training. Students will build on this basis to learn treatments for skin rejuvenation, relaxation, and hair removal. Students will become proficient with skin analysis and consultation, massage/body treatments, peels, hair removal and make-up application.

Tuition & Payment Options
This 600 hour program is based on recommendations from the advisory board of the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers. After program completion, you will have met the requirements of training for the role of "Basic Esthetician". You will be able to sit for the Virginia State certification exam. Professionals may also attend classes on an individual basis for continuing education hours. These classes are $40 each.

$40 per 4 hour block. To guarantee your class placement you must pay in full or a quarterly payment.

Michelle Meinhart, FNP
Received her bachelors degree from the University of Virginia. After her children entered elementary school she began the pursuit of a medical career at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Mission work, spending time with her family and gardening are some interests of Ms. Meinhart.
Mary Beth Nelson
Holds a Virginia State Practical Nursing License & a Virginia State Master Esthetician Instructors License. She is a trained laser technician and certified to perform chemical peels, microderabrasion & IPL.
Starkey Medical School of Esthetics is recognized by the State Board of Higher Education as an approved educational facility. We are also licensed as a waxing school by the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers. Our staff consists of 4 Estheticians and 1 Nurse Practitioner. These individual’s have been providing skin care services cumulatively for over 30 years.

This program is a 1500 hour program designed to meet the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology requirements for licensure as a cosmetologist. Cosmetologists are licensed to perform hair care, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Students will learn to administer cosmetic treatments, manicure and pedicure nails, removed unwanted hair with wax, arrange, braid, dress, curl, wave, cleanse cut, shape, tweeze, shave, bleach, color, relax and straighten hair. This program has both a self paced learning portion and a hands on instructed portion with a licensed cosmetology instructor.

This program is a 115 hour program designed to meet the state of Virginia’s requirements for licensed wax techs. In this course you will learn anatomy and physiology as well as sanitation, hair growth cycles, waxing techniques for the face, back, legs, bikini area, and underarms. Students will spend 55 hours of self-paced learning and 60 hours of guided instruction. Students will practice on mannequins, each other, and clients.

This program is a 150 hour program designed to meet the state of Virginia’s requirements for licensed nail techs. In this course you will learn anatomy and physiology of the hands, feet and nails as well as sanitation, safety, manicures, pedicures and artificial nail application. Students will spend 75 hours of self-paced learning and 75 hours of guided instruction. Students will practice on mannequins, each other and clients.
