FACIALS & PEELS
What is a Facial?
A facial deeply cleanses and maintains the skin by exfoliating dead skin cells. The goal of a classic European facial is to maintain smooth, clear, well-hydrated skin.
The Basic Steps of a Facial
A facial involves a few basic steps: cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, massage, extraction of blackheads and other impurities, and application of products targeted to your skin type (dry, oily, mixed, sensitive, mature).
Who Gives A Facial?
A facial is given by an esthetician with special training in skin care.
How Often Should I Get A Facial?
Ideally, get a facial once a month or every six weeks because that's how long it takes the skin to regenerate. Try to have a facial at least four times a year, as the season changes.
What Is A Peel?
A Peel is a form of exfoliation or skin renewal induced by the use of chemicals and alpha-hydroxy acids. The benefits to the skin are numerous among tightening and firming the facial skin. Other benefits include repair skin damage, tighten pores, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, help to fight acne and scarring and increase the reproduction of collagen. Minimal peeling or flaking of the skin may occur. Recommended in conjunction with Microdermabrasion to see maximum and beneficial results.
What is a Body Treatment?
Body treatments are essentially a "facial" for your whole body. It is just as important to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin on your body, as it is the skin of your face.
The most popular body treatment is a "body scrub" -- sometimes called a salt scrub. This is an invigorating, exfoliating treatment that takes place on a massage table covered with a sheet and a large blanket. As you lay on the table, the esthetician rubs a mixture of salt and oil into your skin. This removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling velvety soft. Once your whole body is scrubbed, you shower it all off without soap, leaving a nice coating of oil.
What is a Body Wrap?
A Body Wrap is a relaxing, wrapping treatment, which will sometimes take place after a scrub. The treatment begins with the body being massaged with a lotion then wrapped into a “cocoon” using linens and a blanket. The body wrap is a good hydrating treatment for the skin and body.

ACNE TREATMENT
We treat acne using a variety of different methods.
One of our approaches is to use IPL, which is Intense Pulsed Light. IPL works by oxygenating the pores and thereby killing acne bacteria. These treatments also stimulate repair of scar tissue. Acne treatments require 2 treatments per week for 4 weeks, and then monthly for 3 months.
What do the treatments feel like?
When the light energy is delivered, some patients feel a mild stinging. No local anesthesia or pain medication is usually required.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following treatment, skin may feel warm and appear a pink. Occasionally, there is some mild swelling.
What is the cost of IPL acne treatment?
* $75/session or $375 a package of 6 treatments
Other acne treatments include peels and medication.

LASER GENESIS
Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative, technologically advanced way to promote vibrant and healthy looking skin in men and women. Now you can have a more youthful appearance by treating those conditions that are typically associated with premature signs of aging and sun damage, such as excessive redness, large pores, uneven texture and fine line wrinkles. The Laser Genesis procedure has been scientifically proven to produce new collagen.
IPL SKIN TREATMENTS USING PHOTOREJUVENATION
IPL stands for "Intensed Pulsed Light". IPL technology improves the appearance of photoaged skin, removes age spots, redness caused by broken capillaries, and gives the skin a smoother more even tone through a process called photorejuvenation. Patients are very pleased with the results because the process treats the full face, chest, neck or hands, rather than addressing a single isolated area or imperfection.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal offers a permanent alternative to waxing, shaving and electrolysis. Treatment is indicated by the FDA for permanent hair reduction. CoolGlide hair removal can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line. Most areas require 3-6 treatments.
What do the treatments feel like?
As the name implies, the CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients feel a mild pinching or stinging.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, your skin may appear a bit red or swollen. 3-7 days after treatment, you may experience what appears to be regrowth of hair. This is actually hair being shed as a result of your treatment, and not actually regrowth.
How does laser hair removal compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful procedure that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electric charge to each one. Electrolysis usually requires years of treatments at regular intervals. Laser hair removal can treat an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

What Is Microdermabrasion and How Can It Help Me?
Microdermabrasion is an abrasive exfoliation of the upper layer of dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is accomplished by using a hand held wand with crystals and a vacuum pressure. This cosmetic technique can help to soften fine lines and wrinkles, smooth skin texture, lessen skin discoloration and scarring and improve acne. Microdermabrasion stimulates the skin’s elastic tissue resulting in firmer skin appearance and a healthy glow. Results are gradual but highly effective. Most will experience and notice softer, smoother skin after the first treatment. When combined with an acid peel, the results of the treatment are highly beneficial.

Restalyne is safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
What are the treatments like?
Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may decide to numb the treatment area.
How long does Restalyne work?
Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months. Follow-up treatments are typically scheduled at six-month intervals. (Individual results may vary.)
What happens after the treatment?
After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane.
What is the cost of a restalyne injection?
$250 and up, depending on the site and amount needed.

THE COOLGLIDE EXPERIENCE
CoolGlide aesthetic systems combine the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser system. They treat a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal bruising or blistering.

How does Cool Glide Vein Therapy work?
CoolGlide systems deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.
Who can be treated with CoolGlide systems?
CoolGlide laser systems feature a unique design and long wavelength that allow them to treat patients of all skin tones. Your physician will advise you if CoolGlide Vein Therapy is right for you.
What types of veins can be treated?
CoolGlide systems can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or "telangiectasia") can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your physician will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.
How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?
Your doctor will advise you on the best course of action, but many physicians and patients prefer CoolGlide Vein Therapy because there are no painful injections.
What about blood blisters and port wine stains?
Blood blisters or "hemangiomas" respond very well to CoolGlide Vein Therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have been overwhelmed by the success of their CoolGlide vascular treatments. Consult your physician for a thorough evaluation.
How many treatments do I need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition.
Do the treatments hurt?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
What happens after the treatment?
Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment. Patients who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.
What are the possible side effects?
Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
When will I see results?
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cool Glide laser system.

PEARL PROCEDURE
What is the Pearl procedure?
The Pearl procedure combines the impact of resurfacing lasers with the gentleness and safety of non-invasive procedures to treat aging and sun-damaged skin. Pearl reduces wrinkles, uneven texture and solar damage with fewer treatments and less overall recovery than other technologies to provide a healthy, pearl-like glow.
How does the Pearl treatment work?
During the procedure, the top layer of skin is treated with pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide longer-term benefits. A natural protective dressing forms on the skin to minimize downtime during the restorative process. On day 3 or 4, this natural dressing will peel or slough off, revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath.
In a short time, patients will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness – all from a 15 minute treatment with only 3-4 days of “social” downtime.
What is “social” downtime?
Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, you can continue your normal daily activities. However, you may not wish to attend important social events because your face will appear pink/red for 3 – 4 days.
How does a Pearl treatment feel?
The Pearl treatment feels like a series of brief pinches. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 representing pain, most patients report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3.
When will I see results? How soon can I wear make-up after a Pearl treatment?
Results are noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, revealing fresh, bright, healthy skin underneath. Make-up may be applied at this time.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after a Pearl treatment?
After treatment, the skin will look and feel mildly sunburned. You will apply ointment on the skin for 3 – 4 days. Since you cannot wear sunscreen during this time, you will need to wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure for a few days after the treatment.
How many treatments are recommended?
Some patients may require 2 treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment.
Can Pearl be part of a combination therapy treatment?
Yes, patients may choose to have a Pearl treatment combined with other Cutera procedures such as Laser Genesis and/or Titan, as well as fillers or Botox. Discuss combination therapies with your practitioner.
How does Pearl compare to other laser treatments?
Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without wound care and the lengthy downtime required with certain Erbium and CO2, laser procedures.
Compared to today’s fractionated technologies, Pearl offers noticeable results in just one treatment versus 4 -6 fractionated treatments.
Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?
Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates.
Does Cutera have FDA clearance for the Pearl laser?
Yes, Cutera received FDA clearance in March 2007 for the treatment of wrinkles and skin resurfacing.

The new Cutera Titan gives you an all-natural option to enhance skin tone. Titan uses light energy to heat the dermis deep beneath your skin’s surface. Without surgery, recovery time, or injections, Titan is an ideal solution for your face arms and abdomen.
How does the Cutera Titan work?
Titan utilizes a safe infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface. During the procedure, the skin’s top surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan hand piece.
The Titan difference
Titan’s light-based platform provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources, such as RF (radio frequency).
What areas respond best to the Titan procedure?
Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body. The most common areas treated are the jaw-line, under the chin, and the abdomen.
Who can be treated?
Since the Titan procedure heats tissue under the skin’s surface, patients of any skin type or age can be treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Although a single treatment has produced very good results for many patients, it is quite common for patients to have two or three treatments over a few months. Your physician will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours.
What do treatments feel like?
With each Titan pulse you will feel a brief heating sensation. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Many patients are comfortable without any medication. Your physician will advise you.
