Am I a Candidate for the Light and Smooth Package?

Light energy has long been used in aesthetics to help men and women improve their complexions.  At Starkey Medical Esthetics in Salem, Virginia, Michele Meinhart, FNP and our knowledgeable team offer several LED light therapy treatments to address a variety of unique skin conditions, including the highly sought-after Light and Smooth Package.

To determine if you are a candidate, let’s take a closer look at the origins of LED light therapy, which skin conditions it treats, and whether it’s right for you.

Understanding LED light therapy

LED light therapy is an innovative treatment that delivers three wavelengths of light into your skin: blue, red, and infrared. The technology is backed by research and testing from NASA scientists and has been repurposed for use in skin care and esthetics.

LED stands for light- emitting diodes, which NASA used to help grow plants on space shuttle missions. When applied to the skin, LED light provokes cell turnover without overheating or damaging your skin.

Am I a candidate for LED light therapy?

Our signature Light and Smooth package uses LED light therapy to address these skin concerns:

Wrinkles and fine lines

Red and infrared LED light stirs up fibroblast activity in your skin. Fibroblasts are linked to collagen production, which is well known for its role in skin elasticity and fullness. The light penetrates the deepest layers of your skin to tighten, firm, tone, and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Acne

For acne, we use blue LED light to minimize sebaceous gland activity, which is responsible for manufacturing the oil that can clog your follicles. LED light helps decrease your skin’s oil production, kill acne-causing bacteria, clear your skin, minimize large pores, and prevent future outbreaks all without harsh chemicals or ingredients.

Blue LED light can also help with the redness and inflammation that so often accompanies a bout of acne.

What to expect during an LED light therapy session

Depending on your specific needs, your Light and Smooth session lasts about 30 minutes. The treatment is safe and painless. You’ll recline in a comfortable chair or on a table as one of our skilled team members glides a specially designed LED device over your target areas.

There’s no downtime, and you’ll be on your way quickly once the procedure is done and free to resume your regular activities immediately.

If you want to fight the aging process or the effects of acne through light therapy, consider booking a therapeutic Light and Smooth light therapy session with us. Call our Salem, Virginia, office to learn more or book an appointment online at your convenience.
