5 Pigmentation Flaws Easily Remedied with IPL Therapy

Pigmentation Starkey Medical Esthetics

While aging is unavoidable, having blemished skin is not. With Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy, you can have clear, young looking skin in a matter of weeks.

IPL therapy uses light wavelengths to treat a variety of areas. By penetrating the second layer of skin, the visible outer layer receives less damage. And you walk away with skin you're proud to show off.

Are there things about your skin you'd like to change? Here's how this state-of-the-art therapy can help:

Age spots

Age spots, also known as liver spots, are flat dark areas. They appear on the face, back of the hands, shoulders, and arms. Wherever your skin gets the most sun. They're usually tan, brown, or black and range in size.

Ultraviolet (UV) light causes age spots. The more UV light your skin gets, the more melanin your body produces. Over a period of years, the melanin sticks together. Which forms dark areas, aka age spots. Age spots can look like skin cancer but they’re typically harmless.

IPL therapy will remove your age spots by converting your pigment cells into heat. Which kills off the cells and makes the age spots disappear.

Freckles

Freckles have a genetic component. But the sun plays a role, too. Which is why you see more freckles on your face during the summer months. Freckles can be tan, brown, or red and occur when extra melanin collects under the skin. They often appear on the face, arms, neck, and back.

Do you want freckle-free skin? IPL therapy is the answer. It’ll remove discoloration, due to freckles, so you have smoother looking skin.

Spider veins

Spider veins are typically found on the face and legs. They occur when small blood vessels near the skin's surface dilate. A lot can cause spider veins. Genetics, trauma, pregnancy, sun damage, aging, and even hormones. IPL therapy will make those spider veins go bye-bye. The heat from the IPL lasers will collapse and create scar tissue that your body will reabsorb. Leaving behind clear skin!

Birthmarks

Birthmarks are discolorations on the skin. They develop at birth or a few weeks after. Birthmarks can appear anywhere on the body and come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Sometimes a birthmark will disappear over time while in other cases it may grow.

If you're uncomfortable with your birthmark, we have good news. IPL therapy will remove your birthmark by shrinking the blood vessels. Keep in mind, it may take a few treatments for the birthmark to be 100% gone. But eventually, it’ll fade to nothing.

Rosacea

Rosacea is the swelling of small blood vessels around your nose and cheeks. It shows up in red, small, pimples that are usually very visible. Genetic and/or environmental factors can cause rosacea. But the exact cause is still unknown.

Rosacea can ruin your self-esteem. Especially when flare-ups happen out of nowhere. But, there's a way to help heal your rosacea. IPL therapy! It’ll reduce inflammation, redness, and bumps. While also smoothing out your skin tone, so you can feel confident again!
