Save Time and Feel More Confident With Permanent Makeup

Tired of constantly having to retouch your makeup, or of having a “bad makeup day”? You can get rid of your makeup kit for good when you opt for permanent makeup. It’s the ideal way to always have your game face on, whether you just rolled out of bed or have been up for two days straight.

At Starkey Medical Esthetics in Salem, Virginia, family nurse practitioner and master esthetician Michele Meinhart helps you perfect your look, then make it lasting with permanent makeup. You’ll look as great on your worst day as you do on your best, so you can focus on living life instead of constantly checking your makeup.

Permanent makeup 101

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, can completely change your morning routine. Instead of needing to get up early to “put your face on,” you can get up at a reasonable time each morning and meet the day with self-confidence.

The process is similar to getting a tattoo, but the goal is to re-create your favorite made-up look. The most popular permanent makeup options include:

Permanent cosmetics require tiny needles and colored ink. Your medical professional will numb the area before beginning, and afterward you can use ice to numb the area as needed until any discomfort has passed.

After your permanent cosmetic procedure

You can expect permanent makeup to last about as long as a regular tattoo, with variations depending on your original skin color and the colors you choose for your cosmetic enhancement. Your permanent makeup will look dark and shiny at first, but don’t panic. That’s due to slight swelling and blood near the surface of the skin. After about three weeks, your makeup will have settled into its permanent shade.

You’ll have to stay out of the sun for a few weeks after getting your permanent makeup, and refrain from facials or chemical peels during that time. Once the makeup is settled, your face will be back to normal, with one exception: You won’t have to waste time putting on and removing cosmetics. If you are scheduled for an MRI after your cosmetic enhancement, you will need to let your doctor know, as some inks contain iron.

If you’re ready to ditch your makeup bag and enjoy looking terrific day in and day out, then permanent makeup could be for you. Call our Salem, Virginia, office today at 540-208-2860 or book your consultation using our convenient online scheduling tool.
