The Importance of Phytoestrogens

Phytoestrogens are compounds in plants, like soy, barley, flaxseeds, whole grains, and red clover, that have qualities like estrogen. They are present in many of the foods you eat. Phytoestrogens fasten themselves to cells in place of estrogens, which partially stimulates your cells’ receptors. Though it isn’t as potent as if estrogen had latched onto the cell, phytoestrogen does perform some of estrogen’s role.

At Starkey Medical Esthetics in Salem, Virginia, our master esthetician, Michele Meinhart, FNP, developed a line of skin care products called Vitagen® that’s loaded with nourishing vitamins and phytoestrogens. In this blog, she answers a few important questions about phytoestrogens and Vitagen. Read on to learn more.

How do phytoestrogens work in your body?

Though it isn’t as potent as if estrogen had latched onto the cell, phytoestrogen does perform some of estrogen’s role. Once the phytoestrogens take hold in your cells, the results are two-fold. On the other hand, if you don’t have enough estrogen, especially after menopause, getting in plenty of phytoestrogens helps offset the effects of troublesome menopausal symptoms.

What benefits do phytoestrogens offer?

Phytoestrogens offer a powerful menu of health benefits. Namely, they lower your risk for:

And, as mentioned above, many of the worst menopause symptoms, such as mood shifts, irritability, hot flashes, and weight gain can be suppressed with phytoestrogens.

What is Vitagen?

In addition to being a master esthetician, Michele Meinhart is also a certified nurse practitioner. With her years of experience in both roles, she developed Vitagen to help our patients with medical and cosmetic skin care needs. Rich in phytoestrogens and vitamins, Vitagen helps transform your skin and rejuvenate your appearance.

In addition, Vitagen offers users like you these outstanding advantages:
